M1.1-SMART CITY PLANNING & IMPLEMENTATION
Smart Cities involve the interplay of multiple contents and stakeholders. Hence, this course provides a systemized approach to planning and implementing the city agenda. An integrated planning and implementation framework will provide a systemized approach through the adoption of the 3Ps namely Policies, Programs, and Projects. Through this systemization, it aligns various city stakeholders, involving governments, communities, private sectors, youth, academia, and NGOs, towards addressing the key challenges of urbanization and climate change in cities.
A Smart City Action Plan for cities as a policy document normally involves a medium-term horizon of 5 – 10 years. Hence, Program Management in Smart Cities therefore, is an important aspect of ensuring alignment of downstream projects, in meeting medium-term targets of the upstream policy document. With comprehensive case studies shared throughout the course, learners will acquire a bird’s eye understanding and more prepared in systematically solving real-world challenges in the planning and implementing of Smart Cities agenda.
